Deep Listening and Sonic Awareness is a month-long foundational course that explores the art of intentional listening and understanding the nuances of sound in various contexts. Deep listening explores the difference between the involuntary nature of hearing and the conscious nature of listening. This Introduction module will delve into the principles of deep listening and provide practical tools to enhance one's abilities to engage in communication and collaboration more effectively to become a better leader. We will be practicing meditation, soundwalking, and experimenting collaboratively with found sound, improvisation, and designing soundscapes. Please set aside time each week for about a half hour to two hours outside of class time for small assignments.
